European roulette has 37 pockets (0–36). A bet covering k numbers wins with probability k/37 and pays fair-looking odds of (36−k)/k to 1. Because the wheel has 37 pockets but pays as if it had 36, the house edge is a constant 2.70% on every bet type. Payout shown is the profit returned on a winning stake (excluding the returned stake).

WHY THE EDGE IS ALWAYS 2.70%

A European wheel has 37 pockets: numbers 1–36 plus a single zero. A bet covering k of those numbers wins with probability k/37. The catch is the payout: a winning bet pays (36−k)/k to 1 — the odds you would get on a 36-pocket wheel with no zero.

Work through the expected value of a 1-unit bet: you win (36−k)/k with probability k/37 and lose 1 with probability (37−k)/37. That simplifies to −1/37 = −2.70% for every value of k. So a single-number straight-up bet and an even-money red/black bet have identical house edges — they only differ in variance. A straight-up wins 2.70% of the time for 35:1; red/black wins 48.65% of the time for 1:1.

The single zero is the whole story. An American double-zero wheel adds a second green pocket (38 total), which pushes the edge to 5.26% — nearly double. On a provably-fair RNG roulette the winning pocket is derived from a hashed server seed revealed after the spin, so the outcome is verifiable but not predictable. ROULETTE CALCULATOR FAQ

Because the wheel has 37 pockets (0-36) but pays winners as if there were only 36. For a bet on k numbers the win chance is k/37 while the payout is (36-k)/k to 1. The expected value works out to exactly -1/37, or -2.70%, for every bet type — the single green zero is the entire edge.
Single-zero (European) is clearly better for the player. It has one green pocket and a 2.70% house edge. Double-zero (American) roulette adds a second green pocket for 38 total, raising the edge to 5.26% — almost twice as costly. If you have the choice, always pick the single-zero wheel.
Mathematically there is no best bet: every European bet, from a 35:1 straight-up to an even-money red/black, carries the identical 2.70% edge. The only thing that changes is variance. Inside bets like straight-ups win rarely for big payouts; outside bets like red/black win often for small ones. Pick by risk tolerance, not by edge.
Not on a provably-fair or RNG game. The winning pocket is derived from a hashed server seed that is only revealed after the spin, so it cannot be known in advance, and past spins never influence future ones. Any system or 'predictor' claiming to beat the wheel is false — the 2.70% edge stands on every spin. Verify a spin with our Roulette verifier.
