Win chance = probability of revealing all selected gems safely. Next-tile safe = chance your next pick avoids a mine. Multiplier already includes the 1% house edge.

HOW MINES MULTIPLIERS WORK

Mines is played on a 5×5 grid of 25 tiles. You choose how many of those tiles are mines; the rest are gems. Each gem you reveal raises your multiplier, and you can cash out at any time — but hit a mine and you lose the bet.

The multiplier after revealing k gems with M mines is the fair odds C(25,k) / C(25-M,k) reduced by a 1% house edge: multiplier = 0.99 × C(25,k) / C(25-M,k). The win chance — the probability of revealing all k gems without hitting a mine — is C(25-M,k) / C(25,k). This calculator uses exactly that math, so a 1-mine / 1-gem pick shows 1.03x and a 24-mine / 1-gem pick shows 24.75x, matching Stake precisely.

Two things never change, whatever you pick: the 1% house edge is baked into every multiplier, and each new tile is independent — past picks do not make the next tile safer. There is no pattern or system that beats the math.

MINES CALCULATOR FAQ

On a 25-tile grid with M mines, after revealing k safe tiles the fair multiplier is C(25,k) / C(25-M,k). Stake applies a 1% house edge, so the paid multiplier is 0.99 times that fair value. This calculator uses the exact same formula, so its numbers match Stake's to the cent.
There is no 'best' count — more mines means higher multipliers but a far lower chance of surviving each pick, and the 1% house edge applies to every configuration. Low mine counts (1-3) give frequent small wins; high counts (10+) are high-variance lottery-style bets. Pick based on your risk tolerance, not a system.
The theoretical maximum is 24 mines with 1 gem revealed, paying 24.75x (0.99 * 25). Revealing more tiles with very high mine counts pushes multipliers into the thousands, but the probability of getting there shrinks just as fast.
No. This calculator works out multipliers and probabilities only. Bomb positions are decided by a provably-fair server seed that is hidden until you rotate it, so nothing can predict them in advance. Use our Mines verifier to check a past board after the fact.
Yes on Stake, Shuffle and other provably-fair casinos: the board is committed via a hashed server seed before you play and can be recomputed afterward from the server seed, your client seed and nonce. Provably fair guarantees the layout was not changed mid-game; it does not remove the 1% house edge.
