  • A chain of 10,000,000 hashes — generated in advance, where each hash is the SHA-256 of the next one, and they are played in reverse order (game #1 uses the 10-millionth hash, game #2 the 9,999,999th, and so on). Because the whole chain exists before play starts, every future crash point is already fixed and cannot be altered.
  • A published terminating hash — the end of the chain is revealed at a public seeding event, which locks the entire sequence so the operator cannot swap it later.
  • A future Bitcoin block hash + your client seed — each round's game hash is salted with an unpredictable external value (the hash of a future Bitcoin block) and mixed with your editable client seed via HMAC-SHA256, so neither side can predict or steer the outcome.

The crash point itself comes from a published formula. Take the round hash, read its first 13 hex characters as an integer, and normalise it into a 0–1 range:

The 99 in the numerator is the 1% house edge written straight into the math — it lowers every potential crash point. The divide-by-(1−X) shape is what makes high multipliers rare and produces frequent low busts and the occasional instant 1.00x crash. The honest limit: provably fair proves each result was committed before your bet and not tampered with afterward. It does not remove the house edge — the 1% is inside the formula, so the game is verifiable and genuinely random, but still negative expected value over time. (One caveat worth flagging: some third-party reviews describe BC.Game using Stake's per-bet HMAC formula with a 232 divisor. THE ODDS: WHAT MULTIPLIERS ACTUALLY HIT

Because the formula is public, the chance of any round reaching a given multiplier M is close to 0.99 ÷ M (the 0.99 is the 1% edge). The curve is memoryless, so past results never affect the next round — a long string of low busts does not make a high multiplier "due." The real odds read like this:

  • 2x — reached about 49.5% of rounds (roughly a coin flip)
  • 3x — about 33%
  • 10x — about 9.9%
  • 100x — about 0.99% (1 in ~101)

The crucial takeaway: the expected value of any cash-out target is about 0.99× your stake, no matter where you set it. A low target wins often for small amounts; a high target rarely wins for a lot — but both bleed the same ~1% on average. You cannot move the edge by choosing a "better" multiplier.
