The core loop is simple: a curve climbs from 1.00x, you bank your bet at the current multiplier, and anyone still in when it breaks loses. HOW STAKE CRASH IS PROVABLY FAIR
Crash is a Stake Original, and like every Stake Original it is provably fair — each round’s crash point is fixed by cryptography before you bet, and you can verify afterwards that nothing was changed. Three inputs decide it:
- Server seed — generated by Stake and shown to you up front only as a hashed (SHA-256) commitment, so it can’t be swapped later. The full seed is revealed when you rotate your seed pair.
- Client seed — set and changeable by you, so Stake can’t know the result in advance.
- Nonce — a counter that rises by one each bet, making every round unique under the same seed pair.
Stake’s published algorithm combines them with HMAC-SHA256 and converts the result into a multiplier, roughly:
hash = HMAC_SHA256(serverSeed, clientSeed:nonce:cursor)
int = first 8 hex chars of hash → 32-bit number
crash = max(1, (232 ÷ (int + 1)) × 0.99)
That trailing × 0.99 is the 1% house edge, written straight into the formula — and when int is very large the max(1, …) floor forces an instant 1.00x crash (about 1 round in 100). The honest limit: provably fair proves the result was committed before your bet and not tampered with after. It does not remove the house edge — the 1% is inside the math, so the game is verifiable and random, but still negative expected value over time.
THE ODDS: WHAT MULTIPLIERS ACTUALLY HIT
Because the math is public, the chance of any round reaching a multiplier M is close to RTP ÷ M (99% ÷ M on Stake). That makes the real odds easy to read:
- 2x — hits about 49.5% of rounds (roughly a coin flip)
- 3x — about 33%
- 10x — about 9.9%
- 100x — about 0.99% (1 in 101)
- 1.00x instant crash — about 1% of rounds, by design
Every round is independent: a run of low crashes does not make a high one “due,” and a streak of big multipliers does not mean a bust is coming. The average return is −1% of your stake per bet, whatever pattern you think you see.
CRASH STRATEGY: WHAT WORKS, WHAT DOESN’T
No strategy changes the 1% edge — Crash is negative-EV on every bet. What good play actually does is control variance and protect your bankroll so you can play longer for the same expected cost:
- Set auto-cashout before the round — pick a fixed target (e.g. 1.5x–2.5x) and let the game cash out for you; reaction-time decisions are where most bankrolls leak.
- Stake small, fixed units — 1–5% of your bankroll per round survives normal cold streaks; flat betting beats escalating.
- Use loss and time limits — set a stop-loss before you start and treat it as entertainment spend.
What does not work, despite what you’ll read:
- Martingale (doubling after losses) — a normal losing streak wipes the bankroll, and you hit Stake’s max bet before you can “recover.” It needs an infinite bankroll and no bet cap — neither exists.
- “Crash predictors” and scripts — the crash point is predetermined by the seed and independent of past rounds, so nothing on screen forecasts it. A “Stake Crash predictor” is just a payout calculator.
IS STAKE CRASH RIGGED?
There’s no evidence Stake Crash is rigged in the sense of being altered after you bet — it’s provably fair, every round can be cryptographically checked, and large samples of rounds match the theoretical 99% distribution. The catch is what “fair” means: fair and verifiable is not the same as profitable. The 1% edge means the house wins over time even though each round is genuinely random. Players who feel the game is “rigged” are almost always experiencing ordinary negative-EV variance plus that edge — not manipulation.
